World AIDS Day

Action Cycling Atlanta celebrated World AIDS Day on December 1 by partnering with the Emory Vaccine Center to host a 30-mile Remembrance Ride. We were thrilled to have twenty riders join us on the ride through the Emory campus and surrounding area, led by Ellis Dixon and Annalia Polemitis. We ended the ride with a reception at the Margaretta Taylor Lobby in the James B. Williams Medical Education Building where we celebrated all the progress made thus far in developing an HIV/AIDS vaccine and the work still to be accomplished in this continued fight. A HUGE thank you to the speakers that highlighted the areas of growth in the fight against HIV/AIDS for us – Mark Mulligan, Vince Marconi and Annalia Polemitis. Your stories were inspirational and we hope that together, we can conquer this battle!

Sweetwater!

On Thursday, November 3, Action Cycling hosted a recruitment event at Sweetwater Brewery for the AV200.  It was a great event for all who attended and a very successful event as four new riders registered for the AV200!  Our next recruitment event will be a Holiday Party on Sunday, December 11 from 3-5pm at Leon Morales house…hope to see you there!

Loud & Proud!

…and coincidentally, very timely, as today is National Coming Out Day!*

This past weekend, we celebrated PRIDE in Atlanta with all our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and straight-ally friends at the festival in Piedmont Park & at the annual Pride Parade.

Pride Parade 2011

Thanks to all of you who came out to support us, and for those of you who stopped by our booth and signed up for more information! We look forward to seeing more of you, whether it’s at a recruitment event, training ride, or the actual ride.

Our next event is a happy hour at Sweetwater Brewery on Thursday, November 3 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  Come out and join us for a pint and/or good camaraderie!
